The Vintage Advantage

Les Barker’s Vintage Advantage is one of the oldest shops in the west specializing in vintage racing, he’s also one of the best.  One of the very few places I’d trust with cylinder boring and any other high tolerance work.  Les also makes and stocks a huge amount of special race parts for our racers, as well as 305s, 350s, 450s, and more.  He’s worked hard on parts sourcing and parts development.

The Wheelmaster

Morrie at the Wheelmaster is also a high quality shop that can do excellent high tolerance work, especially cylinder boring and wheel building.  TimO has been using Morrie to build wheels for 20 years, and Morrie’s wheels are the best.  Tim has never even had a broken spoke with a wheel Morrie has built.

Mike Riddle

Mike Riddle is one of the fierce southern (Bay Area) Group W competitors, and does vintage race work out of his shop.  He’s one of the only ones I know of who will build complete motors – neither Les Barker or I are willing to take on complete motor projects these days.  Mike is a good guy so if you’re in the market for a ground up race motor assembly consider giving him a call.  He also does other vintage race work as well, including custom tapered steering head bearing installations for 160 racers, magneto conversion, custom exhausts, etc.

He’s a fast racer himself, so you can count on getting good advice.   He’s always working on something new, you never know what kind of new goodies might be available.

Hanson Racing Technology

Craig Hanson is one of the original Honda tuners.  He’s been racing and fabricating vintage racers  since before they were vintage.  He’ll do cylinder heads, crankshaft rebuilding/lightening/balancing, exhaust systems custom or kit form,  frames, and more.  Highly recommended.
